Who cares about Waldo, the question you should really be asking is, “Where’s Matt?” I was reminded about Matt today on Geek Sugar, but I first saw him this summer. If you don’t know about Matt and haven’t seen the video, prepare to smile. From self proclaimed deadbeat to that guy dancing in crazy places with other people. You gotta love the Internet.
Help Find Rocky
If you live in the East Falls Church area of Arlington, VA please keep an eye out for my friend’s dog Rocky. He was spooked by a car horn while out on a walk on January 3rd. You can find more information and updates at helpfindrocky.blogspot.com.
This is Rocky’s story:
I’ve been loved by my daddy since I was 2 months old – I am 7 years old now. I am a neutered male Australian Cattle Dog – tri-colored (Black, White, and Tan). He rescued me from Santa Clara Humane Society in California. We made a cross country trip in 2006 and now reside in Arlington County. It was exciting since I got to pee on 11 states! I’ve been extremely intelligent my entire life – causing daddy many headaches by escaping from crates and apartments, unmaking his bed, and opening his fridge and eating his food. But he loves me anyway! On the early morning of January 3rd I was being walked by one of daddy’s friends down Sycamore St. near the entrance to Route 66 when someone honked a car horn which spooked me and caused me to run in the opposite direction. Now I just want to get back home to my daddy. Will you please help me?
What Kind of Geek Are You?
Don’t deny it. We all are some sort of geek. So which one are you?
It Is About Time!
Flipping Typical
Today Swissmiss posted this great site that takes whatever text you enter and shows it in a number of different fonts you have installed on your computer. It won’t show them all if you have a lot installed, but you can refresh to see a new set. I I could have really used this yesterday!
Cherry Pie
On a recent trip to Costco we came across a very large package of cherries. Now given it is January, and we don’t normally see cherries until summer, we bought them. I know, I know, we are supposed to only eat fruits and vegetables that are in season, but what can I say, I have no willpower. Despite our best efforts, M&I were not able to eat all of them. So what does one do with many cups of cherries that are about to go bad? Make a pie of course. M was certain we were going to need sour cherries but Deb over at Smitten Kitchen saved the day with a sweet cherry pie recipe. I pitted the cherries (and vowed to get a cherry pitter at my first opportunity) and M made the crust, complete with steam vents in the shape of two cherries. What a beautiful sight to behold.
Crafty Christmas Tree
This year I didn’t have enough floor space to have a tree. I did have a Christmas wreath and some garland so that I would have a place to hang some ornaments and get the Christmas light effect and the pine smell. Unfortunately this meant that many of my ornaments didn’t see the light of day. I love this wall tree by Jane of All the Luck in the World. What a wonderful creative way to display all your ornaments without sacrificing floor space. Next year I am definitely going to give this a try. via
Calendar Time
As we say goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009 it is time to print ourselves a new calendar or two. Here are some links to DIY calendars from Tipnut. Happy new year!
I Had Myself a Merry Little Christmas
I am happy to report that I had a wonderful time with everyone these past few days. People seemed to like their little felt mistletoe ornaments with real fake pearl berries (I should really post a picture…) The cookies were a huge hit. I made way way too many of course. Luckily there were plenty of relatives with kids to take dozens off my hands. Grandpa figured out a way to play Trivial Pursuit so that it doesn’t seem like we were playing forever (when you land on a chip question, the other team reads all the questions on the card until you get one right or run out of questions. Brilliant!) There was video game time (Gaaaaa!!!) and of course we watched A Christmas Story in pieces a few times. This year there weren’t a lot of presents which made me personally very happy. Everyone seemed more interested in spending time laughing and loving than picking out the perfect gift. Wonderful. I hope that every Christmas can be so delightful.
Happy Holidays!!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday filled with family and fun.
