First Signs of Snow

This morning we woke up to see a little snow covering the ground. By the time I got to work there were no signs but it is still quite chilly. I would say it is definitely winter now.

I am part of Andre’s posse

I am not generally a very adventurous knitter, I knit scarves mostly. I have a few scarf projects in progress at the moment but my favorite is the one I am knitting for my hubby. It is Andre the Giant. I am done with the hard part and now I just have to make it longer. M has already told me that he wasn’t expecting it for this winter so that takes the pressure off a little. I should really get cracking though otherwise he may not have it for next winter either! Join the posse and knit one of your own.

New Year’s Resolution

I am generally not big on New Year’s resolutions. They are very often goals we set for ourselves in January that we have already abandoned in February for one reason or another… maybe that isn’t true for you, but it is true for me. I want this year to be different, I will make no promise that it will be, but I really want it to be. So what is my resolution? To take more pictures. In fact I want to take pictures everyday. Of everyday things. I take vacation photos, and some times even family event photos but I want to expand that to every day. So there it is. To keep me honest, I will post one lucky picture on this blog, which I guess means I will blog everyday. (What have I just gotten myself into…)

Cashmere Me!

It is cold in Brooklyn and I have been bundling up for a while. My warm layer of choice is cashmere. It is thin enough that I don’t feel like Bibendum and warm enough that I am still toasty. The only problem is the cleaning part… I have to resist the urge to throw it in the washing machine because I don’t want to end up with tiny little cashmere sweaters. I have some good directions here but it would be nice to have a way to wash all of them at once instead of one or two at a time.

Soccer Camp

I start soccer camp tomorrow. I have been out of commission for a while because of a bad ankle sprain. I am a little nervous. It has been a while since I was running around kicking a ball. I hope that my ankle is strong enough to hold its own.

Killer Weekend

This weekend I went to my dad’s for a visit and I am ashamed to say all I did when I was there was watch Dexter. The show totally hooked me and I wanted to watch it all the way to the end of season 1. I don’t have premium channels at home so I was catching up with the series on demand. I promise that next time I go for a visit I won’t just watch TV. 🙂

Stand Up Straight

Today I start iyengar yoga. I am excited. It is the type of yoga that helps you stand up straight and all you shorties out there know that we need all the help we can get to be taller.

Noni=Grandmother=Love

This lovely lady is my noni. She passed away when I was 13. It makes me sad that she isn’t around to tell me how old she was in this picture, to show me how to make sauce and meatballs, to tell me what it was like for her growing up, to tell me about her mother and father…
